What are the requirements to join?

We are a non-auditioned community choir that welcomes mature youth and adults of varying degrees of choral experience. Singers are expected to sing tunefully and understand how to read sheet music.


What is the rehearsal schedule?

Weekly rehearsals are held on Mondays from 7-9:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church at 13th and Kasold in Lawrence. We follow a school two-semester schedule, with a winter break and summer break. Fall semester rehearsals begin in mid-August, and spring semester rehearsals begin in mid-January.


When are the concerts?

Traditionally, one concert is performed each semester on a Saturday evening. The fall semester concert is mid-December, and the spring semester concert is mid-May. See the UPCOMING PERFORMANCES page on our site for current concert information.


How can I join?

If the registration period is currently open, you may register online by clicking the JOIN button on this website. You may also register in-person at any of the first three rehearsals each semester. In-person registration opportunities for the fall 2026 semester are August 24, August 31, and September 14 (no rehearsal or registration on Labor Day). Please arrive between 6-6:45 p.m. to register in advance of 7:00 p.m. rehearsal.


What attire is worn at the concerts?

Members must own/purchase either the current designated dress (style adopted in 2022), or own/purchase a tuxedo that conforms with requirements.

Financial assistance for attire is available; please inquire in-person at registration.


What is the cost to join?

Tuition is $80* non-students | $50* students (w/valid student ID)

*Includes $20 refundable deposit upon return of loaned sheet music.
